1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using OpenCivic ("the Service"), operated by OpenCivic ("we", "us", or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

OpenCivic provides AI-powered planning and zoning intelligence tools, GIS mapping, and permit search capabilities for county planning departments, developers, and residents. The Service is currently in beta and may change without notice.

3. Beta Program

Access to certain features requires beta approval. Beta features are provided "as-is" and may contain bugs, produce inaccurate results, or be temporarily unavailable. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue beta features at any time.

4. Account & Authentication

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. We use Google sign-in for authentication. You agree not to share your access credentials or attempt to access accounts belonging to others.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the Service beyond normal use
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service's infrastructure
• Misrepresent AI-generated responses as official government decisions
• Use automated tools to access the Service without prior written consent

6. AI Disclaimer

OpenCivic uses AI to interpret zoning and planning codes. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated responses are informational only and do not constitute legal, zoning, or planning advice. Always verify information with your local planning department before making decisions.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, code, and AI models, is the property of OpenCivic. Public ordinance text and government data referenced by the Service remain in the public domain. You retain ownership of any content you submit through the Service.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OpenCivic shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to reliance on AI-generated information.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms. You may stop using the Service at any time.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
